Closet: New Options For Brides & Bridesmaids
In my life of 29 years I've stood in my fair share of weddings. My first trip down the aisle was as my sister's flowergirl, dressed as a mini bride, veil and all. Since than I've been dressed in quite the selection of dresses for these matrimonial occasions. From blood red to irridescent violet I've worn them all with a smile happy to participate in the joining of friends. Even if this means I add another "You can SO wear this again!" dress fails to my closet. Come on, you know you've thought to yourself too, "Yeah, but would I want to?". Fortunately I also have had the rare occasion of a couple bridesmaids dresses I actually like. I have the honor of walking in my dear friend Mindy's wedding in September of this year and the Jcrew dress she chose I will be happily wearing as often I can.
I write this all as a precursor to a new option that is available to brides. Selecting a dress from the designer inventory of Rent The Runway. Rent The Runway is an online site that lets you rent designer creations for up to 90% retail. For brides this means you can have your bridesmaids wearing a $510 Nicole Miller gown for $135, or a Haute Hippie $595 dress for $75! Less than the average bridesmaid dress with the added bonus of getting to rock beautiful designer dresses. You can give the option to each bridesmaid, buy retail or rent it from RTR!
Ok ladies, time to share your bridesmaid horror stories. You know you have em...

I am currently in the middle of planning my daughter's wedding and there are so many decisions to make...it is mind boggling...it is also a challenge to make everyone happy with those decisions! I think if I had money to invest it would be in some kind of a wedding related business..the economy doesn't seem to be affecting them!!
This is an awesome idea. Thank goodness my bridesmaids days are over...whew.
Oh my. In September I will be a brides maid for the first time in my twin sisters wedding. She insists on a color and no matter how I try to change her mind I can't. Anyway she wants us brides maids to sew our dresses. I'm having a hard time choosing a style (that she left up to me). This should be intersting! Renting is a super cool idea!!!
Pam- Have fun and enjoy the memories. I enjoyed planning my wedding so much.
Laurel-Thanks and don't be so sure. You never know.
Woolbridge- I love your sister's idea. How lucky she is to have such crafty bridesmaids!
